This is the Swedish cast from the opening week of the Andrew Lloyd Webber & Tim Rice's rock opera: Starring as Mary Magdalene, (Swedish pop star from ABBA): Agnetha Fältskog with two stand-ins: Titti Sjöblom and Adele Lipuma. Jesus was played by: Peter Winsnes (former member of the famous band The Spotnicks), Judas: Arne Jansson, Herodes: Örjan Ramberg, Pilatus: Bernt Henziger. Björn Ulvaeus, Agnetha's husband at the time, had heard about the Swedish production, he suggested Agnetha audition for the role of Mary Magdalene. The premiere was held on February 18 at The Scandinavium arena in Göteborg and the ten performances run set an "untouchable Swedish record" playing to 74,000 people. The producers had a tough time choosing between Agnetha and Titti Sjöblom, due to respect of Titti´s mother, the legendary Alice Babs. In what was termed a compromise, Agnetha headlined in the role with Sjöblom playing two nights and the matinee was performed by Adele Lipuma. Titti Sjöblom and Bruno Winzell as Jesus played future runs in Stockholm, Örebro and Gävle. Peter Winsnes went back to the Falconér theatre and picked up his utterly successful performance in Copenhagen again.
